3.1.2. Insert link to pdf document

Here you can read about how you insert a link to a pdf document in your web solution. To insert a pdf file the file should first be uploaded on the HostedShop server. Follow the example below and you can by few clicks insert pdf documents in your web solution. This procedure also applies for other file formats (for instance Word and Excel files)

 

Example – Insert pdf document


In the following an example will be used to explain how you insert a pdf document in a text page
 

 

 

1. Choose page 
To insert a pdf file first you choose the page where you want to insert the file. Click on “Page content” to get the chosen page’s content shown.

2. Mark text (or picture) 
First you mark a word or a sentence that should function as a link to your pdf. You can also mark a picture instead. Remember to choose a saying text for your link as the search engines read and use this text.


3. Create link 
When you have marked the wanted word you click ”Link” to make it a link.
The icon looks like this: 

When you click on the icon another window will appear where you can choose what should happen when you click on the link. The window looks like this:



4. Type 
Under the field ”Type” it should say ”URL”.

5. Browse server
To choose an existing file on the server, or to upload a new one, click the "Browse server" button in the lower section of the dialog.

A new window (The file manager window) appears, with a list ofthe files that already are present on the HostedShop server.

6. Upload
If the file you want to insert is not already present on the HostedShop server (can be seen in the fileview), it must first be uploaded from your computer by clicking "Upload" in the upper part of the dialog.
 
This opens the upload feature.
Now click "Browse..." and select the wanted file on your computer. When the file has been selected click "Upload Selected File" to add the file to the currently active folder.
To change the active folder use the folder-tree in the left part of the dialog.
 
 
 
7. Choose file
When the file has been uploaded to the HostedShop server it will show up in the fileview. Dobbletclick it to select the file.


8. Create the link

The path to the file will no show up in the URL box. Click "Ok" to create the link and return to the editor.

9. Done
You are now done creating the link – click ”Save” to submit the changes.
