When you have created at least one category you can create products. By the creation of a product you have to type in a number of information and make some choices. Fields marked with * are obligatory fields you have to fill out.
Example – Create productIn the following an example will be used to explain how you create a product. As an example we will create a T-shirt. |
|
1. Create product To create a product you must under the tab “Web shop” choose “Create product”. There will now appear a frame section that you have to fill out. 2. Type* In the field ”Type” you can state whether the product is physical or online, that is a file sales product. When you choose that the product is an online product you can after the creation add a file to the product which the customer will receive at a purchase. We choose that our T-shirt is a physical product. 3. Status* In the field ”Status” you can state whether you will activate or deactivate a product. When you deactivate a product it will not be shown in the web shop. We choose that our T-shirt should be active in the web shop from the start. 4. Status at sold out* Status at sold out defines what should happen with an article when the stock number is 0. If you have chosen “Not active” the product concerned will not be shown in your web solution. The other way round it applies that a product will be shown in your web solution even though the stock number is 0 if you have chosen “Active”. We choose that the T-shirt should not be shown if the stock number is 0. So we choose “Not active”. 5. Category* In the field ”Category” you choose a product category that you in beforehand have created. We choose the category “T-shirt”. If you have any doubts about how you create a category you can read more about it in the paragraph “Create category”. 6. Secondary category You can optionally attach the product to a secondary product category (or several). If the product is attached several categories they will also be shown in the chosen categories. However, in this case we do not choose a secondary category. 7. Manufacturer* If you want to relate a manufacturer or brand to the product first you create a manufacturer. This is done by creating the manufacturer under “Users” in the manufacturer user group. We choose the manufacturer “Levi’s” – an already created manufacturer. If you do not wish to attach your article to a manufacturer you choose “None”. 8. Selling price* Under selling price you have to type in the price of the T-shirt. We type in ”50$”. 9. Discount Under ”Discount” you can state a discount on the T-shirt. As the T-shirt is a part of the new collection sample we want to give a 15$ discount. Therefore we type in “15” in the discount field. 10. Cost price In the field ”Cost price” you state your cost price for the article. Here we type in “10” which is our cost price. The cost price will not be shown in the web solution but it is useful information in regards to statistics. 11. Title* In ”Title” you define the name of the T-shirt. We type in ”Levi’s T-shirt”. 12. Description Under the field ”Description” you can type in the description of the product that you want shown in the web solution. You can both type in a “Short” and a “Long” description of your product. The difference is that the short description will be shown in the product list while the long description will be shown when you click on the individual products. 13. Delivery time Here you choose the delivery time for the article. The delivery time is defined under the control panel but it is also possible to use a standard delivery time that show whether the product is “In stock” or “Not in stock”. It is also possible to attach a delivery time where stock number appears. 14. Stock number In this field you state the stock number for the article. We type in “5” which is the number we have in stock. 15. Weight You can optionally state the weight of the article in kg. However, we do not state the weight of the article. Note that the freight is calculated against a background of the weight you type in here. 16. Item number It can be an advantage to state an item number for the product. Here we state the item number “1100”. Remember that it is also possible to use letters in your item number. 17. Homepage of the item Optionally type in a manufacturer’s homepage where your customers can read about the item. We type in Levi’s’ homepage ”http://www.levisstore.com”. The manufacturer’s homepage is always with ”http://”. 18. Relation code By typing in a relation code it is possible to relate products with each other. In the field a joint code followed by the title on the product in brackets will be typed in. Product #1: relation_code (T-shirt with print) Product #2: relation_code (T-shirt without print) We do not want to relate any products – therefore we leave the field empty. 19. Variant types If there are variant types you can attach them to the article here. However, you have to create the variant types before you create the actual article. We choose the variant type called “Size”. 20. Additional choice types If you have created additional choice types for the product, here you can choose which additional choice types you want active. 21. Pictures Under the point ”Pictures” you have the option to upload pictures of the article. By clicking on “Browse” you can navigate to a picture on your computer locally. Pictures will automatically be low scaled in proportion to the chosen target under “Settings” in the control panel. Remember that the file format have to be jpeg, gif or png. 22. Finish Now we have typed in all the required data, that is fields marked with *. In addition we have in some of the optional fields stated extra information – the only thing we need to do now is click on “Create product”. If the information is typed in correctly a message to the right of the button will appear and tell us that the product is created. Vice versa we will be noted if a field is not correctly filled out. |
