Discount groups is part of the B2B reseller module which makes it possible to give selected customers a discount on selected products. The discount is calculated as soon as the customer logs in, and is withdrawn from the product price as a discount in the product lists, the product view and the shopping cart. It has, with this module, been made very easy to administer discounts to your customers, while at the same time reducing the number of mistakes as your discount rates are controlled centrally through the "Discount groups" menu. The discount can be an amount or a percentage-rate and should follow your contribution margin (CM) on the individual products.
The discount groups are created as general groups, that can be related to customers and products. After your discount groups have been created you can, under each individual customer and product select a discount group. The discount group can be selected both at creation or by editing. When the individual customer logs in to the web shop the discount is calculated from the customers discount group and the product the customer is viewing. The discount rate is calculated on the basis of both the customer's and the product's discount group and it is the lowest discount rate of the two which decides the actual discount rate.
If the customer is in a discount group A with 100 kr. in discount, but is viewing a product which does not have a discount group then the customer gets no discount on the product. If the product however is attached to discount group B which gives 50 kr. in discount then the customer can only get 50 kr. in discount. If both the customer and the product is attached to discount group A with 100 kr. then the customer can get 100 kr. discount on the product.
