6.1.2. Language & domains

When you click on "Language & domains" in the fan "Control Panel" you get the option to administer the language layers that should be available to your customers. Each language layer has a domain attached, in regard to the search optimisation. The language layer also has currency attached.

5.7.3.1. Create new language

Below we go through how you can create a new language layer for your web shop.

Example – Create new language

In the following example we go through how you can create a new language. As an example we create “Swedish”. We imagine that “English” and “Danish” are already created and that we now want “Swedish” to be available to our customers.

1. Create new language
To create a new language you need to select “Language” under the “Control Panel” fan. Next you click on “Create new language”. You will then get a new screen which needs to be filled in.

2. Language pack*
In the field “Language pack” you select the language you want to create. Here we choose “Swedish”.

3. Title*
In the field “Title” you enter a title for the language. We enter “Swedish”.

4. Status*
In the field “Status” you choose if the language should be active or inactive. If you wish to work on the language layer before it is put online, you can start by having it inactive and then activate it later on. Because we wish to activate the language we select “Active”.

5. Currency*
In the field “Currency” you need to select the currency that is to be used with the language. We choose “Swedish kroner (SEK)”.

6. Secondary currency(ies)
In the field “Secondary currency(ies)” you can choose other currencies that your customer should be able to switch between. We choose that the customer also can switch to Euros – so we tick off “Euro (EUR)” as well.

7. Domain*
In the field “Domain” you have to choose which domain the language layer is connected to. If you select standard the language layer will automatically be connected to your standard domain for standard language. Here we select “Standard”.

8. Secondary domain(s)
In the field “Secondary domain(s)” you can connect additional domains to the language layer. This means that you will effectively be forwarded to the “primary” domain.

9. Done
You are now finished – click on “Create”.
