The following example is based on that you wish to measure the converting rate on the ordering process (checkout) in HostedShop Shop. It might just as well have been other areas on a web solution, e.g. a contact form.
On the front page of Google Analytics, “Analytics settings” you select “Edit” for the web solution where you wish to measure the converting rate. Under “Converting goals and –channel” you select a goal that has not been set up and click “Edit”. On the next page you set “Active goal” as “On”. Search word type for “Main match”. “Goal URL” is the address where you wish the customer to end – e.g. by accepted payment. For an order it is “/order/?step=5”. “Goal name” is the title of the target, e.g. “Checkout”. “Case sensitive” should not be checked and “Goal value” is individual.
The actual goal is set up in the steps that the user goes through to reach the goal. For an order the following steps can be set up:
Step 1 /basket/ Shopping basket
Step 2 /order/?step=1 Address
Step 3 /order/?step=2 Shipping
Step 4 /order/?step=3 Gift wrapping
Step 5 /order/?step=4 Payment
